Well. What a day!! I was at the office at 8:30 finishing up things for the Easter Egg Hunt, and when I went outside I thought "Wow what a nice day!" and by the time I left the office for the egg hunting site at 10:00 the weather had totally changed. Talk about WIND!! Oh yeah, and the people using the theatre in the Town Hall the night before left a door open so I got called twice by my husband saying the alarm was bothering Main Street, and I had to go back and check it out. That thing is pretty loud. We finally walked through the entire building and found the problem.
But anyway, the wind was blowing at like 100 mph and it was freezing! I went home and got a coat to hide the eggs so I wouldn't freeze, and I wasn't sure how many kids would actually show up. The wind made it so a microphone didn't work, and my paper signs? Well, I didn't even try to put them up. I used yellow "CAUTION" tape to mark off the areas and it was almost laughable, because every time I tried to stretch it out the wind would catch it and rip it! Needless to say, some children had no clue where they were going, and we had a few older kids running around snatching eggs from 6 years olds. Argh. Our estimate on attendance was about 200 kids, and there were 3000 eggs to find, so I think most kids made out okay. I know there are always kids who go crazy and then some who don't get any, but we kept some back just for that, and we did give some out to a couple of kids who were egg-less. The bounce house seemed like a hit, if the long line for it said anything. The fire guys decided not to show since they didn't think the kids would hang around very long, which they didn't, and the Easter tattoos didn't make it out of their packaging, either. One lucky kid won some swim lessons, so that was good, but I couldn't put up a big sign in the wind so I'm sure there were parents who didn't know we were even doing a draw. DANG WIND! Haha that's what we get for living in Southern Alberta!
So, as people were arriving for the hunt, one of my co-workers came up to me and told me he had some bad news - my car had just been hit. A parked car. No other cars near it, RED, and someone hit it. Turns out it was an older lady who lives across the street, and she just backed out of her driveway, across the street, and into my car! She told this guy I work with, who came and told me, but I never saw her and I had no idea who she was. I was distracted by kids with prizes, and finally Clark showed up so I told him about it and he called the police to come and make a report. They showed up and told us to go to the RCMP station to do the report, so we drove down there and did that. Now we just have to go to the insurance company and get our car fixed! What a day.

We're Approved!
Everything went well with the bank and now we just have to sign some paperwork with our lawyer! We thought it was going to take weeks to be approved, but it took less than a day, which was an awesome surprise. We should be digging the basement within two weeks - it's crazy how things sometimes don't feel real.....until they are! We're excited! :)

You can take that to the bank
I've been running around collecting quotes on everything for our house, and we're almost there! We're waiting on two more, but they're smaller, and we should have them by the end of the day today. On Monday afternoon we're meeting with the bank. It's crazy that we're finally actually going to build a house!
I remember when Clark decided to buy the lot - we weren't even engaged yet! He had been looking for a house for awhile, and even went to put an offer on a house just to find it had sold the day before. No other decent (affordable) options came up so finally he decided to build. I'm kinda thinking he might have thought he was getting married....seems a little suspicious. :) But, he got the lot and then with all of the craziness of getting married and being engaged long distance it was kinda impossible to plan a house so it got put off until now. We've been looking at house plans for a long time and we're excited to see the real thing!
If all goes well we'll be digging the first week or two in May, and be in before Christmas! I can't wait to be able to actually have people over - especially family. Right now, they just don't fit in our tiny apartment. With one couch and a chair, we can't even have couples over to do much (unless they wanted to use the treadmill or the bike...)! Haha oh well - the end is in sight! :)

The latest and greatest
Last night I ran the Moonlight Run! I finally got to sleep in on a Saturday morning, which was amazing, and then I cleaned our whole apartment. Wow I love having our own vacuum! It felt so good to do a little extra cleaning. I didn't want to eat anything for lunch because I didn't want to mess up my kitchen! I even cleaned my oven - how gross are ovens?? We hardly use it so I didn't think it was very bad in there. Ew, that is definitely something I will be doing more often!
I drove to the race by myself so Clark could watch the BYU game for a bit longer (just a little shout out to BYU for actually making it past the first round!! Go Cougars :)), and then he came up for the finish. I told him I would take over an hour to finish (I know, I'm just slow!) so he wasn't really watching for me when I crossed the finish line. Our friend Stephanie was there, and she found me right after I finished, so we wandered around together searching for Clark. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to find a 6'6" guy in a crowd, but we just didn't find him. Finally we went back to my car and called him and he was there, but he missed me crossing the finish line, and the camera didn't have the battery in it. Sheesh! This was the first time I actually ran a 10K, and he was trying to be all supportive, but it just didn't work out.
So, Steph and I drove back to Raymond and Clark picked up pizza and met me at home. Oh well! Every post is better with a picture, but I don't have any! I know I was in a couple of other people's pics - the ladies I run with for marathon club - so hopefully those pop up on facebook or something soon. The first couple of miles were kind of brutal - I just felt so tired for some reason - but then it was really fun. Running at night in the river bottom, music on the iPod, feeling good - funny how you can have such a love/hate relationship with something like running. A couple of miles before the finish line my knee really started bugging, but at least I finished the race still running! I didn't get an awesome time, but it was good for me. Now I just have to nurse my knee for a day so that I can hopefully get running again tomorrow. I really need to get into my massage lady!
We're still working on getting the quotes in for our house. We really want to go to the bank this week with our cost projection, so hopefully we can make that happen. I talked to my cabinet man and he really helped me with the layout for my kitchen. He suggested something I had not even thought of and that I think we'll go with, so I'm glad I went to see him. I really wanted my island to be sink-free so that it could be a big work space, but I didn't want my sink to face the side of our neighbor's house, either, and he solved the problem! Now we have a corner sink at the back of the house where originally we had a pantry. Awesome.
And that's pretty much it! :)

I am amazing! :)
I ran 8 miles on Saturday, which is (sadly) the farthest I've actually run in my entire life. And it wasn't that bad! I'm actually very proud of myself, haha. I was really worried about my knee, but thanks to Aunt Dixie I had a tensor thing and I guess it worked its magic because my knee didn't act up at all.
The weather was SO nice on Saturday - people around me were running in t-shirts and shorts! Of course, since I always assume I will be freezing wherever I go, I had a black long sleeve under armour shirt on, lol. We ran through a lot of shade though so it was actually just fine. I could not believe how nice it was. I hear it's supposed to snow tomorrow - not surprising since hello, this is Southern Alberta, but disappointing nonetheless. Oh well, spring is definitely coming, eventually!
I fell asleep at like 6 tonight and woke up at 9:30 so I ended up running on the treadmill instead of outside and my knee was fine again. I even got out my yoga mat (which I've really missed) and did a little bit. I miss yoga. There's a class going on in town but I found out about it the day it started and didn't get around to signing up. A running clinic coming up is yoga for runners, so I can't wait for that.
On Sunday it was my sister's b-day, so we went out to my parent's for dinner. All of my grandmas were there and so was my grandpa, and it made me realize I'm pretty lucky to have them all so close.
My nephew is just so dang cute, and I wanted a picture with him but he wasn't loving the idea. This is what Clark captured:

The Truck
We got a second vehicle! A few weeks ago we bought a truck, and it's so nice to have our own vehicles again. We totally survived just fine with one for awhile, but with house building coming up we knew we wanted a truck to haul stuff (and I just wanted a truck...) so when a really good deal popped up we couldn't pass it up! It's like ten years old, but in really good shape thanks to its former mechanic-owner. So, now that the snow is melting we have a four-wheel drive to get in and out of our swamp driveway and I'm pretty happy about that! :)
House Update
We got our house plans! It's been like two weeks, but I was waiting for something else exciting to happen to blog about it. Unfortunately, nothing did. Our life is pretty uneventful, which I'm sure many people would say is a good thing!
Now that we have the plans we're working on getting quotes (well Clark and his dad are) and filling out forms for permits. For some reason it still doesn't really feel like we're getting out of this basement anytime soon. It'll be fall/winter before we do, so maybe I'm just resigning myself! Haha we're lucky to have a cheap place to live but some days we could both use a little breathing room. And Clark could use some head room, poor guy. :) So, we are very excited to have a place of our own!
We're hoping to start digging around May 1, and we're hoping that the weather cooperates. The whole 90 days from a fog thing is making me pretty nervous because February was sooo foggy. Fingers crossed!!
