Today I went to my recreation facilities class thinking it was going to be any other boring Thursday afternoon. BUT, the manager of the aquatic facilities here at BYU came in to talk to us and after talking for awhile, took us on a tour of the pool area. And the bet part - we got to go down in the tunnels! I didn't even know they existed, and apparently this facility is almost one-of-a-kind, because it's way too expensive to have tunnels built just for your pipes, etc., and pools just backfill with dirt and cover them up. This pool is 45 years old, and it was pretty cool. They have windows into the pools, because when they built it BYU had a synchronized swimming program so the coaches would go watch what was going on under the water. They're trying really hard get the okay and funding to redo the whole place because it's usable life was supposed to be only 30 years and it's just really old. Once they do, those tunnels will be gone forever!
